I've been recently playing their "Greatest Hits" album, which I haven't for a year or two, and it's brought back home, just how good they were! "Love To Hate You" and "A Little Respect", being some of the strongest compositions, IMO.

They certainly had their moments indeed! I think they've been somewhat dismissed as throw away pop artists, but if you actually take the time to listen to the actual lyrics they were often very clever.

"Victim Of Love", was another stunning track too!
I think that the problem, from an audience perspective, was that the overtly synthasized sound, was very in keeping with that of the Pet Shop Boys, who were seen as being very serious and credible artists. I think, that Erasure, were in a way, over shadowed by PSB.

I think that's right Carl - probably the fact that Andy Bell was overtly camp, which was in dirrect opposition to the message of some of the songs, didn't work in their favour either, hense, they were perceived as far less credible. But, they did release some gems, as did the Pet Shop Boys.

Strange how both front men of PSB and Erasure were gay. Yet, Neil Tennent, was very reserved and almost subdued, where as you say, Andy Bell, was overtly camp. Mind you, looking on the way things are in the charts, with every group dressing, sounding and looking the same! Andy Bell's er, shall we say 'unique' styling- the PVC unitards and stuff, made the acts and indeed charts interesting! After all, can anyone really tell what's the difference between Busted and McFly, apart from the fact that Busted don't have a drummer?

I think Busted have gone through puberty, but you can never be too sure can you?
